Lameboy DS 0.12

Considering it’s been over a year since last version released, there’s not many changes in this version. However I just recently returned to the lameboy project and started with some small issues. It is possible that you won’t need to wait another year for the next release.

Lameboy DS 0.12

Change log:

  • fixed: better interrupt timing (should fix Mario Land 2 boss levels)
  • fixed: multipacket SGB messages (fixes Pokemon R/G/B in battle color overlays)
  • added: backlight of the menu screen is turned off when not used
  • added: fullscreen scaling (ignores aspect ratio)

i want to play ‘Alone in the dark – the new nightmare’ but it doesn’t seem to be working it just crashes at the intro.

I would love for the next release to have the LSDJ sound kits working properly. I’m sure that I speak for many on this matter. Just a suggestion that I hope you will consider.

Would it be possible for the next release to support gba and the a and b controls being mappable to y and b? (For gba as well because if you play with the physical cart the buttons are mapped to a and b)

@ AriRashkae: Real-Time Clock is determined by the cartridge… Since the NDS Flashcarts don’t know ow to handle GB(C) Clocks, it won’t work unless the emulator fully supports RTC. I haven’t noticed any feature like that, but if you have Pokémon Silver/Gold/Crystal, you could check for sure. Set the time, save, turn of DS, wait for an hour, then turn on game again and see if any time passed.

Good luck

RTC works for me in Pokemon Crystal, I didn’t check the time in it but its dark ingame at night

This is a nice emulator and all, but what I don’t get is the need for a separate save-to-file function. Why the hell do we need to tell it to do that when it can do it automatically?

Lameboy is amazing!

I ran into a little problem toda while playing some games. I started to save (I pressed “x”) and my game froze over completely. Now everytime I try to play any games on lameboy, it just freezes on the black screen. The FSP (i think that’s what it is) is at 0 and even trying to get to the lameboy menu doesn’t work.

Has anyone else run into this? Should I just reload everything?

The cries of all pokemon have some “zz” sound in Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal if you listen carefully.

Especially in Pokemon Yellow, the Pikachu’s cry is very odd.

@ Dorito: No, I am not.

@ Nick: True, earlier on this board there was a discussion about why that is.

@ Everyone (Off Topic): Happy New Year! May 2010 bring many hours of gaming pleasure!

Umm… So I Load up GBA Exploader and then set my rumble level to medium and soft reset or whatever. I’m using 0.58b.

Then after it soft resets (says the soft reset is version 1.2) I go into lameboy and load up pokemon pinball. But the rumble doesn’t work. It rumbles before the software reset…. I’m using cyclods firmware 1.56B6.

Any ideas…?

wow really nice i had several problems whit gbc games on the m3ds real because the most games couldnt play but this works great!
really good

Yeah, about what Oveneise said earlier, Faceball 2000 (my first GB game) doesn’t work. The demo starts up but when I try to actually play the game it just glitches up. If you can fix this in v.13 It would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi,

first of thank you very much for providing this great piece of software! I’m mainly using it for playing with lsdj on my DS and I have a question regarding this.

I wonder if it would be possible to hack DSMI support into lameboy to allow DSMI->pseudo serial communication with lsdj running via lameboy. This is by no means a feature request. I don’t know under which kind of license you release lameboy. If it’s some kind of open source license (GPL whatever) I’d be glad to be able to look into source code and see if I’m able to achieve anything myself :-). What do you think?

Hey,

Are you still working on it?
Meaby a new menu would be great! When does the new version come?

Gee because i’m Australian all the times are weird, example- it says its 9.52am on the 4th but its really 6.55pm on the 4th.

Hello Nutki, a small request:
Please allow to setup a default startup folder.
Each time I start up the emulator, I must browse to the folder containing gb/gbc roms manually.

I think automatically select the correct folder at launch would be better.
Thank you!

Hi, I love this emulator. I was wondering if there are plans to implement the newly dumped GBC BIOS? This would make Lameboy so perfect.

Yeah its save compatible.

@ i386

Make a folder on the root of your card named “lameboy” and put all of your GB/GBC roms in there.

Would it be possible to have an option to report a different gameboy system to the game you are playing?

Like for the Zelda Oracle games for the gameboy color, you can access a hidden shop if you play the game on a gameboy advance.

Oh, and on the screen, the words “controller” and “battery” are misspelled.

Just thought I’d point that out.

Great emulator, though.

First off, id like to thank you for your program it is amazing, second, goddamn people this is one man mostlikesly,he cannot possibly get to all of your requests.he probibly looks at that hundred plus comments that say”my games doesnt work fix it!!!” just chillax damn,

the legend of zelda link’s awakening DX us version does not work, no text appears in the text bubbles and the sprites mess up.

Yeah 1º of all thank you so much for this lil programa x)

Well i’m just wondering if you are planing on upgrading this program to a GBA games.. that would so great …

anyway..thanks for this and if you’re trying to do that with GBA keep on it people will thank you so much 😉

@ Oveneise,
Yes, I know making a “lameboy” folder at root and putting the roms inside would allow Lameboy to access them directly at launch, however for my organization, I would need the roms to be in ms:\tools\lameboy\roms..

I don’t think it would be hard to select the default folder manually (?) and would definitely tight things up. Nutki any views on the subject? ^^;

@fdgsa: Zelda – Link’s Awakening DX European version works just fine, so maybe you can grab that one somewhere? I’ll try to get my hands on US version and verify. Also, don’t use patched ROMs. Use clean ROMs for the best (stable) result.

great job!

i have problems with sound in various games

-home alone
-kid dracula

other games don’t load

-conquer’s pocket tales
-rc pro am

Seeing an odd issue with DW3, on a cyclods. Occasionally when I do a state save, the game screen will go black, and the sound will die. The menu system for lameboy still works, but the game is non-functional. Only way to get the game back is to exit lameboy and return.

I haven’t seen this issue with DW1 or 2, but it could also be a change in the cyclods firmware.

Any idea?

Hey!
Great emu, appreciate it very much.
Still wondering though how to make the game Sneaky Snakes to work, will it be possible to run this game in a future release perhaps?

Keep up the good work!

/Jo

Wow, it’s amazing how every comment here is people asking for help or whining because it doesn’t work perfectly. I would stop working on something like this if that’s all the responses I got…

Dave, obviously you’re no dev, indeed.
Let me tell you those kind of reports are in fact extremely helpful to perfect/tweak the project you’re working on.

hi!
In Solar Striker (early game from 1989), there is a graphical glitch at each level after you kill the boss. While automatically following a trajectory to exit the stage, the spaceship sprite repeat itself and won’t erase before redraw.

Aladdin (gbc game) won’t work, the graphics are wrong.

Finally, action replay code support would be a great addition.

Anyway thx for this great emulator 😉

PS: Do you plan to publish the source code ?

love this shit. GSC works better then HG/SS!

amazing emulator. looking forward to seeing more updates.

By looking through the GB games I got one called “Kid Dracula” but it seems that the sound doesn´t work.
Should I update the version of the emulator?

There is a graphical problem with the game Rayman (when you turn the game in pause, and you go back to the game, a lot of texture become just yellow and we can’t play.
I hope it will soon be solved =P

But really good emulator by the way

hello if i may request a lamboy to VisualBoyAdvance and vise-versa converter for Lameboy DS 0.12 as such the game saves used to be compadable in Lameboy DS 0.09 and my ds dies and i feel like playing on the computer i found that the files aren’t compatible anymore if you could make a converter for us or at least chainge the way it saves like it used to in vba format that would be amazing thank you

Can Some One Tell Me how 2 use Lameboy DS i don’t know what should i do i have 2 games called:
The Legend Of Zelda:A Link to the past,Minish cap
please help me?

From what I’ve heard, it’s quite a nice emulator. I don’t know how well it will work with the games I have, I need a flash cart.

That said, I hope you haven’t stopped development. And don’t listen to all the idiots saying “GBA EMULATINO!!!!” because if they bothered to stop and think about it for two seconds, they’d realize that it would be pointless.

Don’t stop, this could go places. I’m looking forward to trying it, and hope (like everyone else here) for fully-compatible fullspeed emulation. I think if anyone can do it it’s you on this project.
